Policy Statement

To encourage best practice, promoting the safety and wellbeing of children and young people, and to support parents. The Church wishes to act properly whenever concerns are raised. This may involve contacting statutory bodies.

The Diocese of Ripon’s policy, ”Safeguarding Children and Young People” was written in response to the Home Office document 1993 “Safe from Harm”.

St. Matthew’s Policy complements the Diocesan Policy, laying out procedures concerning the local administration.

All Volunteers working in children’s groups require a six month probationary period, CRB check, two references and an interview.

The Policies are on view in Church and the
Child Protection Representative or clergy are available to answer any questions.

Also you may download
safeguarding documents directly from the Diocesan website.
