The photo above from January 1949 shows an early gathering with the Vicar (Bill Purcell).

Thanks to Joyce Edgecock (one of the founding members) for providing these photos and the following snippet from the early days.

According to Joyce, Evelyn Webster had the idea of providing a Christmas Dinner for the children at the School.
This wouldn’t have been provided like it would be now and was even more of a challenge as rationing was still in place.
Here we can see the ladies photographed with the children.
(spot some home made clothing).

This would have been when the School was on Woodland Lane and stood just a little way along from where Edinburgh Cycles is now. You can still see the old walling which now makes the garden walls for the houses which stand there now.
